Our client is a well-established engineering business delivering high-quality projects across the industrial, utilities, manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded estimator with a strong electrical background to contribute to the successful delivery of complex engineering projects while working within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The Role

As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for a diverse range of electrical engineering projects. Working closely with engineering, procurement, commercial, and operational teams, you will ensure tenders are technically compliant, commercially competitive, and delivered to deadline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical engineering projects.
  • Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and client requirements.
  • Complete material, labour, and equipment take-offs.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Develop accurate labour estimates and project cost models.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
  • Liaise with engineering, project management, procurement, and commercial teams throughout the tender process.
  • Attend site surveys, client meetings, and pre-tender visits where required.
  • Ensure all submissions meet technical, commercial, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records to support future tenders.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator within engineering, construction, utilities, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical installations, power distribution, control systems, instrumentation, or industrial electrical works.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively to tight deadlines.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on industrial, process plant, water, energy, nuclear, or COMAH projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
  • Full UK driving licence.
