A residential contractor who delivers new-build residential projects for Registered Providers (RPs) across the North West is currently looking to recruit a Design Manager. The position will involve managing the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery, ensuring all design information is coordinated, technically compliant and issued in line with programme requirements.

Working closely with internal commercial and technical teams, external consultants and Registered Providers, you will take responsibility for coordinating design teams, managing design programmes and ensuring projects progress efficiently through each stage of the construction process. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing design development
  • Reviewing technical information
  • Managing consultant appointments
  • Ensuring designs meet planning conditions, Building Regulations and relevant technical standards
  • Identifying and resolving design issues
  • Managing design changes
  • Ensuring any technical or design risks are addressed at an early stage

You will work closely with site teams to ensure designs are practical, fully coordinated and suitable for construction, whilst maintaining effective communication with consultants, subcontractors and other key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a Design Manager role within residential construction, with a good understanding of new-build housing developments. Experience working on affordable housing schemes for Registered Providers or Housing Associations would be advantageous.
