You will be joining a well-established social housing provider delivering refurbishment and improvement programmes across Merseyside. The organisation manages a large residential portfolio and is committed to improving the quality, safety and sustainability of homes within occupied communities. Our client is seeking a Temporary Quantity Surveyor to support a busy programme of social housing refurbishment works. The role will focus on commercial management and cost control across multiple workstreams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with contractual and compliance requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:- Full commercial management of social housing refurbishment projects
- Preparing, submitting and agreeing valuations and payment applications
- Managing variations, cost reporting and final accounts
- Monitoring budgets, forecasts and project expenditure
- Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier costs
- Undertaking site visits to verify progress and completed works
- Working closely with contractors, site teams and internal stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with SOR contracts and organisational procedures
- Supporting risk management and commercial decision-making
- Maintaining accurate, audit-ready commercial documentation
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- Proven background within social housing refurbishment or planned works
- Strong understanding of SOR-based contracts
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects across occupied housing stock
- Confident user of Excel and commercial reporting systems
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites
- £25-£35 per hour, paid weekly (PAYE or umbrella)
- Immediate start with a strong pipeline of work
