Our client is a well-established M&E contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality building services projects. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.
The Role:
As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical building services solutions from concept through to construction and handover. You will work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, site teams, and clients to ensure designs are technically robust, compliant, and commercially viable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce mechanical designs for building services systems including HVAC, pipework, ventilation, and plant
- Prepare calculations, schematics, layouts, and technical specifications
- Ensure designs comply with current regulations, standards, and client requirements
- Support projects through all stages, from tender and pre-construction to installation and commissioning
- Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and external consultants
- Assist with value engineering and design coordination
- Respond to technical queries from site teams and clients
- Review drawings and designs for accuracy and buildability
About You:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within M&E contracting or building services
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
- Familiar with relevant regulations (CIBSE, Building Regulations, British Standards)
- Experience using industry-standard design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, or similar)
- Commercially aware with a practical, contractor-focused mindset
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Relevant Mechanical or Building Services Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
