Due to continued growth and an increasing workload across the North West, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting projects throughout Cumbria.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from tender stage through to final account. Working closely with operational and commercial teams, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the commercial aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
- Preparing and submitting applications for payment, valuations, and final accounts.
- Procuring and managing subcontractor packages.
- Reviewing and administering subcontract agreements.
- Identifying, pricing, and managing variations and compensation events.
- Monitoring project costs, forecasts, and budgets.
- Producing monthly cost reports and cost value reconciliations.
- Supporting operational teams with commercial advice and guidance.
- Managing contractual correspondence and maintaining accurate project records.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful Quantity Surveyor will have:
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor position within civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, utilities, water, or related sectors.
- A solid understanding of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
- Experience managing subcontractor procurement and accounts.
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commercial reporting systems.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
