Housing Officer - Chester Location: Chester Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm Job Type: Temporary - Β£23.36 Per hour About the Role We are looking for a proactive, reliable and people-focused Housing Officer to join our team based in Chester. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of properties and supporting tenants to maintain their tenancies, ensuring properties are well managed, compliant and maintained to a high standard. This is a varied role that requires excellent communication skills, good organisation and the ability to deal confidently with tenants, contractors and other professionals. Driving License is required. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of residential properties and tenancies. Act as the main point of contact for tenants, responding to queries and resolving issues promptly. Carry out regular property inspections and tenancy visits. Identify and report repairs, maintenance issues and health and safety concerns. Liaise with contractors and maintenance teams to ensure works are completed efficiently. Monitor rent accounts and work with tenants to address arrears or payment issues. Support with tenancy enforcement where required, following relevant policies and procedures. Manage tenancy changes, new tenancies, renewals and terminations. Ensure properties meet required standards and are safe, clean and appropriately maintained. Maintain accurate and up-to-date tenancy and property records. Deal professionally with complaints, anti-social behaviour and tenancy-related issues. Work closely with internal teams and external agencies where appropriate. Ensure all work is carried out in line with housing legislation, policies and procedures. Attend properties and meetings as required within the Chester area. About You We are looking for someone who is: Experienced in housing, property management, tenancy management or a similar role. Confident dealing with people from a wide range of backgrounds. Able to handle difficult or sensitive situations professionally. Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail. A confident communicator, both verbally and in writing. Able to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively. Proactive, reliable and able to work independently. Comfortable using IT systems and maintaining accurate records. Customer-focused with a professional and approachable manner.
