Our client is a leading specialist contractor operating within the waterproofing, gas membrane, and groundworks sector, delivering high-quality projects across the UK. With over 20 years of industry expertise, the business provides complete design, supply, and installation solutions for below-ground waterproofing systems, gas membranes, and associated specialist works on both residential and commercial developments. Renowned for its technical expertise, quality workmanship, and long-standing relationships with leading contractors and developers, the company continues to experience sustained growth across a diverse portfolio of projects.

As part of their continued expansion, they are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their commercial team based in Manchester.

The Role

  • Preparing competitive estimates and tender submissions for waterproofing and groundworks packages
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Producing accurate cost plans, bills of quantities, and take-offs
  • Managing the commercial aspects of projects from award through to final account
  • Preparing valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
  • Managing variations and change control procedures
  • Procuring subcontractors and suppliers while negotiating favourable terms
  • Monitoring project costs, cash flow, and commercial performance
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
  • Supporting senior management with commercial reporting and forecasting

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or dual QS/Estimator within the construction industry
  • Experience within waterproofing, groundworks, civils, concrete structures, or specialist subcontracting would be highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial procedures, and cost management
  • Excellent estimating and analytical skills
  • Strong negotiation and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and live projects simultaneously
  • High level of commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach
