About the Company

Our client is an established and growing construction business delivering major residential and specialist construction projects across the UK. The business has a strong pipeline of projects across sectors including Build to Rent, multi-family, affordable housing and major residential developments. Due to continued growth within the commercial and claims function, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is looking to develop their career within construction claims.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to move into a specialist Claims QS position. Working closely with an experienced Senior Claims Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved in the preparation and management of contractual claims across a range of major construction projects. The successful candidate will have a strong commercial QS background and will ideally be looking to specialise in claims, developing their expertise across EOT, disruption, loss & expense and wider contractual matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the preparation and management of contractual claims
  • Preparing and supporting Extension of Time (EOT) submissions
  • Preparing disruption and loss & expense claims
  • Reviewing project records, programmes, valuations and commercial information
  • Analysing project costs and identifying potential areas of entitlement
  • Preparing detailed claim submissions and supporting documentation
  • Reviewing construction contracts and contractual obligations
  • Gathering and analysing evidence to support claims
  • Working closely with project and commercial teams to obtain relevant information
  • Assisting with negotiations with clients, contractors and other stakeholders
  • Maintaining comprehensive claims records and documentation
  • Supporting the Senior Claims QS with claims strategy and preparation
  • Developing claims methodologies and contractual knowledge
  • Supporting dispute and adjudication preparation where required
  • Progressing towards independently managing claims as experience develops

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
  • Main contracting experience would be highly advantageous
  • Experience working on major construction or residential projects
  • Strong commercial QS background
  • Good knowledge of valuations, variations, subcontract accounts and cost control
  • A genuine interest in specialising in construction claims
  • Understanding of construction contracts and contractual mechanisms
  • Strong analytical and numerical ability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyse large amounts of project information and identify relevant evidence
  • Good Microsoft Excel and general IT skills
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification
  • Experience with EOT, disruption, loss & expense or other contractual claims would be advantageous
