We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist contractor for experienced and motivated Stonemasons to join a skilled team working across high-profile heritage and restoration projects. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who take pride in traditional craftsmanship and want to contribute to the preservation of historic buildings.

The Role

  • Working on a variety of heritage, ecclesiastical, and conservation projects, either in a workshop (banker masonry), on-site (fixing), or a combination of both.
  • Shaping, carving, and finishing natural stone such as limestone, sandstone, and granite.
  • Producing textured and polished finishes using traditional and modern techniques.
  • Working from drawings, templates, and detailed specifications.
  • Installing replacement stonework and carrying out sensitive repairs.
  • Restoring historic and listed buildings with attention to detail.
  • Ensuring all work blends sympathetically with existing structures.
  • Safely using hand and power tools in workshop and site environments.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in stonemasonry and/or heritage restoration.
  • Experience as a banker mason, fixer mason, or both.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional masonry methods and materials.
  • Experience working with lime mortars and a variety of stone types.
  • Ability to read drawings and produce accurate work.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Confidence working at height and handling materials safely.

Desirable

  • Experience working on listed or heritage buildings.
  • Understanding of conservation standards and best practices.
