Site Engineer – Airport Runway Project Location: UK Airport Start Date: 12 October 2026 Duration: 6 Months Rate: Up to £450 per day for candidates supplying their own kit Sector: Aviation / Highways / Infrastructure About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure project involving works on an airport runway. The successful candidate will have strong site engineering experience, ideally gained within highways, aviation, airports or major civil engineering/infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on site-based role requiring an experienced engineer who can work effectively within a controlled airport environment. Key Responsibilities * Setting out and surveying works on an airport runway/infrastructure project. * Undertaking engineering and setting-out duties in accordance with project drawings and specifications. * Checking levels, lines, gradients and coordinates. * Carrying out quality checks and maintaining accurate site records. * Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and subcontractors. * Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. * Supporting the delivery of works safely, efficiently and to the required standards. * Identifying and reporting technical issues or discrepancies. * Maintaining accurate engineering documentation and records. Essential Requirements * Proven experience as a Site Engineer on major construction/civil engineering projects. * Experience within highways, aviation, airport or major infrastructure projects. * Previous setting-out and surveying experience. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. * Strong understanding of site engineering principles and construction processes. * Must have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years. * Must have passed or be able to pass DBS and BPSS checks. * Able to work within a controlled airport environment. * Strong communication and organisational skills. Desirable Experience * Previous airport/airside experience. * Previous experience working on runways or airfield infrastructure. * Experience working on security-sensitive or controlled-access sites. * CSCS or relevant site card. * Experience with modern surveying and setting-out equipment. Equipment Candidates can apply with or without their own engineering kit. Candidates supplying their own suitable surveying/setting-out equipment may be considered for a rate of up to £450 per day, depending on experience and suitability. Candidates without their own kit are also welcome to apply, with the rate discussed based on experience and project requirements. Security Requirements Due to the nature and location of the project: * Minimum 3 years UK residency is required. * Candidates must have successfully completed, or be willing and eligible to complete, DBS and BPSS screening. * Candidates must be able to meet the airport's security and access requirements.
