Buildforce Solutions are recruiting a Senior Site Engineer on behalf of a main contractor, working on a large industrial project in Nottingham. This is a 60 week contract starting on 10th August 2026.
The Role:
You will take the lead engineering role on site, overseeing the earthworks and S278 packages from setting out through to completion. You will manage day to day engineering delivery, supervise junior engineering staff, and act as the key point of contact for engineering matters between the site team, subcontractors, and the client's representatives.
Duties will include:
- Leading all setting out and dimensional control across bulk earthworks, cut and fill operations, and formation levels
- Overseeing engineering delivery on S278 highway works including kerb lines, drainage, and carriageway construction
- Managing and mentoring junior site engineers, checking their work and allocating tasks
- Producing and reviewing surveys, as-built records, and volume calculations
- Reviewing drawings, raising technical queries, and resolving discrepancies with the design team
- Managing quality assurance, inspection and test plans, and engineering records
- Supporting the site management team with programme, temporary works coordination, and subcontractor management
Requirements:
- Extensive experience as a Site Engineer / Senior Site Engineer with a main contractor on earthworks schemes, ideally industrial or large-scale groundworks projects
- Previous experience of S278 highway works is essential
- Proven ability to lead engineering on site and supervise junior engineers
- Proficient in the use of GPS and total station equipment
- CSCS card (relevant grade)
- SMSTS or SSSTS desirable
- Full UK driving licence
