Senior Design Manager – East Midlands £85k–£95k + package | Tier 1 Main Contractor | £100m+ Project A genuinely exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join a leading Tier 1 contractor on one of the most prestigious projects currently being delivered in the East Midlands. Based just north of Nottingham, this is a £100m+ project with a significant 12-month pre-construction period, giving you the opportunity to get involved from the outset and take a leading role in shaping the project before it moves into delivery. You’ll be responsible for leading the design function, working closely with the client, consultants and wider project team, with a team of Design Managers working beneath you. The role: * Lead the design management function through pre-construction and delivery * Manage and develop a team of Design Managers * Take ownership of the design programme, strategy and delivery * Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and the wider project team * Manage design information, approvals, changes and technical queries * Drive design coordination and ensure information is delivered in line with the programme * Work closely with Commercial, Planning and Construction teams * Challenge design proposals around buildability, programme and cost * Lead design meetings and report into senior project leadership * Support the project from pre-construction through to completion About you: * Experienced Senior Design Manager / Design Manager with experience on major projects * Strong main contractor background, ideally Tier 1 * Previous experience managing a design team * Comfortable working through complex pre-construction and into delivery * Strong technically, commercially aware and confident dealing with clients and consultants * A natural leader who can take ownership and drive a project forward This is a high-profile project with a long pre-construction runway, so it would suit someone who wants to be involved early, lead a team and ultimately help deliver a major project from the ground up. 📍 North of Nottingham / East Midlands 🏗️ £100m+ prestigious project ⏱️ 12 months pre-construction 👥 Design team leadership 💷 Up to £95k + package 🏢 Tier 1 main contractor If you’re an experienced Senior Design Manager looking for your next major project and want genuine responsibility from pre-construction through delivery, please get in touch with Heather Duncan
