Buildforce Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a reputable contractor delivering a major industrial development in Northampton. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile scheme from an early stage and play a key role in the commercial delivery of a £30 million new-build industrial facility.
The Project
The project comprises a large-scale industrial and logistics development, including a steel frame warehouse, associated office, external works, and infrastructure packages. The scheme will be delivered under a JCT Contract, with a programme duration of approximately 40 weeks.
The Role
Reporting into the Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of the project, ensuring cost control, procurement, subcontractor management, and financial reporting are delivered effectively throughout the construction programme.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing subcontractor procurement and accounts
- Valuations, variations, and change control
- Cost reporting and forecasting
- Preparation of CVRs
- Contract administration under JCT
- Managing applications and payments
- Liaising with site, operational, and commercial teams
- Supporting the successful commercial delivery of the project
Requirements
To be considered, candidates should have:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Experience working on industrial, logistics, commercial, manufacturing, or large-scale construction projects
- Strong knowledge of JCT forms of contract
- Main contractor or specialist contractor background
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting the wider project team
