A leading main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Manager to join the delivery team on a major £100m+ high‑rise residential development in Birmingham. This is a key role within the project team, responsible for overseeing the mechanical installation packages across a large-scale apartment scheme, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
- Working closely with the Project Director, MEP team, consultants and subcontractors, you will take responsibility for the coordination and delivery of all mechanical services across the development.
Key responsibilities
- Managing the mechanical services packages on a large high‑rise residential project
- Coordinating subcontractors, consultants and site teams to ensure works are delivered in line with programme
- Overseeing installation of HVAC, domestic water services, heating systems and associated plant
- Ensuring all works meet quality, safety and regulatory standards
- Managing technical queries, design coordination and site inspections
- Supporting commissioning and handover phases of the mechanical systems
- Monitoring programme, progress and subcontractor performance
What We’re Looking For
- Strong mechanical background, ideally from an M&E subcontractor or main contractor environment
- Experience delivering large residential or high‑rise construction projects
- Proven track record managing mechanical packages on complex builds
- Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and technical stakeholders
- Strong understanding of mechanical building services installation and commissioning
