The Opportunity
We are currently working with a leading UK main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial and retail projects, typically ranging from £10m to £60m in value. With a strong presence across the UK through a network of regional offices, the business has an excellent pipeline of work and a reputation for delivering complex projects to a high standard. The role can be carried out fully remotely, offering genuine flexibility while working alongside an experienced and supportive pre-construction team.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of major projects, working closely with the pre-construction, commercial and operational teams. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed estimates and tenders for projects typically valued between £10m and £60m
- Analysing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scopes of work
- Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions
- Working closely with Design, Commercial and Pre-Construction teams
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Contributing to tender strategy and presentation
- Ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive and delivered within required deadlines
- Supporting the wider pre-construction team through to successful project handover
About You
We are looking for an experienced Estimator with a strong main contracting background and experience pricing projects within the £10m–£60m range. Ideally, you will have:
- Proven experience working for a main contractor
- Strong estimating experience across commercial, industrial and/or retail projects
- A strong understanding of construction methods, costs and procurement
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- A commercially focused approach
- The confidence to work independently in a fully remote environment
