Buildforce Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a leading main contractor for one Mechanical Site Manager and one Electrical Site Manager to join the delivery team on a major construction project in Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established contractor delivering a high-profile scheme, taking ownership of the M&E packages from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful coordination, installation and delivery of all Mechanical or Electrical services, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

You'll play a key role in managing specialist subcontractors, driving quality assurance and commissioning activities while working closely with the commercial, design and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all Mechanical or Electrical packages from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Coordinate and manage specialist MEP subcontractors.
  • Review drawings, specifications and design information, identifying and resolving clashes and technical queries.
  • Compile and manage RFIs, drawing registers and document control.
  • Produce and manage M&E programmes, procurement schedules and commissioning programmes.
  • Monitor design progress and ensure information is released in line with programme requirements.
  • Carry out quality inspections and ensure all QA records are maintained.
  • Promote and maintain exemplary Health & Safety standards across all M&E works.
  • Attend client, subcontractor and progress meetings.
  • Produce weekly progress reports and site diaries.
  • Work closely with the Quantity Surveyor regarding variations and commercial matters.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities and client witnessing.
  • Support the successful handover of building services to the client.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 10 years' experience managing Mechanical or Electrical packages on large construction projects.
  • Previous experience delivering projects within commercial, industrial, logistics, multi-room or residential sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP coordination, installation and commissioning.
  • Proven experience managing specialist subcontractors and driving programme delivery.
  • Good understanding of QA procedures and digital quality platforms.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • SMSTS or SSSTS
  • First Aid (desirable)
