Our Client is an independent Owned builders’ merchant that has been supplying plumbing, building, heating and sanitaryware products for over 100 years.

They are looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial person and offer great training and career development opportunities

Job Description

  • As a Counter Sales Assistant you will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing expert advice and exceptional service. You will assist customers with their purchases, manage inventory, and ensure the sales counter operates efficiently.
  • Greet customers, understand their needs, and provide knowledgeable assistance in selecting plumbing products.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using our point-of-sale system, handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the products and services we offer, including new and existing inventory.
  • Assist in managing stock levels, including receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, and conducting regular inventory checks.
  • Ensure the sales counter and store are clean, organized, and well-presented, with products displayed attractively.
  • Address customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and handle returns or exchanges efficiently and courteously.
  • Work closely with the sales team and other departments to ensure a seamless customer experience

Experience

  • Previous experience in retail, sales, or a customer service role, preferably within the plumbing or construction industry but not essential if willing to learn.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items and stand for extended periods.
  • Friendly, approachable, reliable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on experience.

Working hours are: 7.30am to 17.00pm Monday to Friday and 08.00am to 12.00pm every third Saturday
