The National Specifications Manager role is a chance to take full ownership of driving UK-wide specification influence for a high-performance range of rainscreen and faƧade solutions. You'll be the technical ambassador engaging early with architects, faƧade consultants, contractors, and developers to secure system inclusion at design stage, deliver compelling CPDs, and guide projects from concept through tender. Working closely with technical, design, and regional sales teams, you'll shape compliant system proposals, support tender conversions, and feed real market insight back into product development. This is a handsāon, fieldābased position suited to someone who knows the building envelope inside out, understands how specifications are won, and can build trusted relationships that turn opportunities into longāterm commercial wins.
Key Responsibilities
- Specification Development
- Promote the company's range of rainscreen cladding systems, subāframe assemblies, and associated faƧade components to architects, specifiers, and faƧade engineers.
- Identify and secure project specifications through early engagement in the design and planning stages.
- Deliver CPD presentations and provide design and technical support to architectural practices and design consultants.
- Maintain a detailed pipeline of projects via the company's CRM system, ensuring all stages from design to tender are tracked.
- Technical & Commercial Collaboration
- Work closely with the technical and design departments to provide accurate system information, fire certification details, and performance data.
- Liaise with the regional sales team and approved installers to ensure specifications are converted to sales.
- Support contractors during the tendering and submittal stages with compliant system solutions.
- Provide feedback from the market to inform product development and innovation.
- Market & Relationship Management
- Build and manage key relationships with architectural practices, faƧade consultants, and building envelope specialists throughout the Northern UK region.
- Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and professional networking forums.
- Monitor competitor activity and emerging trends within the faƧade and rainscreen sector.
- Reporting & Administration
- Produce regular reports on specification activity, project conversion rates, and regional performance.
- Contribute to strategic planning for business growth within the Northern region.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in a Specification Manager, Technical Sales, or Business Development role within the faƧade, rainscreen cladding, or building envelope industry.
- Strong understanding of architectural specification processes and design stages (RIBA).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (especially for CPD delivery).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical details.
- Familiarity with fire regulations, building envelope performance, and installation principles.
- Confident user of CRM and Microsoft Office tools.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the North of England.
- Established network of architects, faƧade consultants, and contractors within the Northern UK market.
- Background in technical faƧade systems, rainscreen substructures, or cladding materials (e.g., aluminium, terracotta, HPL, or ACM).
