The Role

We are working with an established building services contractor delivering electrical and M&E solutions across the commercial construction sector in Milton Keynes. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Project Manager to take full ownership of electrical projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover. The successful candidate will have a strong electrical building services background and proven experience delivering commercial fit-out, refurbishment and design & build projects. You will manage electrical subcontractors, engineers, supervisors, suppliers, consultants and clients, taking responsibility for programme, procurement, commercial control, quality and overall project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of electrical projects from pre-construction through to practical completion and handover
  • Manage the complete electrical project lifecycle including design coordination, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and handover
  • Coordinate electrical subcontractors, engineers, supervisors and site teams
  • Develop and manage project programmes and delivery milestones
  • Coordinate electrical design and ensure buildability and technical compliance
  • Manage procurement of electrical equipment, materials and subcontract packages
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, valuations, variations and financial performance
  • Identify and manage commercial and programme risks
  • Liaise directly with clients, consultants, main contractors and project stakeholders
  • Chair and attend progress, design, technical and subcontractor meetings
  • Manage RFIs, technical queries, design changes and project documentation
  • Ensure electrical installations comply with drawings, specifications and relevant UK standards
  • Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, architectural, structural and other building services packages
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging and handover
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, quality and programme
  • Ensure RAMS, permits and site documentation are maintained
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and CDM compliance
  • Provide regular project progress and commercial reporting
  • Support forecasting, cost/value reporting and project financial control
  • Resolve technical and delivery issues proactively
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality and profitability standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager within electrical contracting/building services/M&E
  • Strong electrical building services background
  • Demonstrable experience delivering commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects
  • Experience working on design & build schemes
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation and project delivery
  • Experience managing electrical subcontractors and site teams
  • Strong programme, procurement and project management skills
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, variations and cost control
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills
  • Good understanding of UK electrical standards, construction practices, H&S and CDM
  • SMSTS
  • CSCS/EC
  • Electrical qualification such as HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience would be advantageous
  • Commercial construction experience preferred
