Rate: £275 – £300 per day

Project Overview
A large-scale infrastructure programme focused on the upgrade and modernisation of accommodation across a national estate, alongside the delivery of new-build supporting facilities. The scheme is being rolled out across multiple sites using a programmatic approach, with a strong emphasis on Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), standardised design, and efficient delivery to drive quality, speed, and consistency.
Role Overview
As a Freelance Site Manager (No.2 on Site), you will support the Senior Site Manager / Project Lead in the day-to-day running of the Catterick site. You will play a key role in coordinating site operations, managing subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to a high standard. This is a hands-on role suited to someone looking to step up or further develop under strong leadership on a major scheme.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Site Manager in overseeing daily site operations
- Supervise subcontractors and trades across accommodation builds and associated facilities
- Ensure strict adherence to health & safety standards and site procedures
- Assist in managing programme delivery, tracking progress, and reporting updates
- Monitor quality on site, ensuring works meet specifications and standards
- Coordinate materials, logistics, and workforce allocation
- Carry out site inspections, toolbox talks, and daily briefings
- Proactively identify and resolve on-site issues
- Liaise with project teams, consultants, and stakeholders as required
Requirements
- Experience in a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager role on construction or infrastructure projects
- Background delivering residential, accommodation, or similar schemes
- Exposure to MMC / modular construction (desirable)
- SC Clearance (advantageous)
- Valid SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS (Black/Gold Card), and First Aid
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-phase environment
