The Role
We are working with an established building services contractor delivering mechanical and M&E solutions across the commercial construction sector. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to take ownership of mechanical projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical building services background and experience delivering commercial fit-out, refurbishment and design & build projects. You will be responsible for the overall delivery of projects, coordinating mechanical subcontractors, site teams, suppliers, consultants and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of mechanical projects from pre-construction through to practical completion and handover
- Manage the full mechanical project lifecycle including planning, design coordination, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and handover
- Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, engineers, supervisors and site teams
- Manage project programmes and ensure key milestones are achieved
- Coordinate with design teams to ensure designs are fully developed, buildable and compliant
- Manage procurement of mechanical equipment, materials and subcontract packages
- Monitor project costs, budgets, variations, valuations and financial performance
- Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Liaise with clients, consultants, main contractors and other project stakeholders
- Chair and attend progress, design, technical and subcontractor meetings
- Manage RFIs, technical queries, design changes and project documentation
- Ensure mechanical works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and relevant standards
- Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, architectural, structural and other building services packages
- Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging and final handover
- Monitor subcontractor performance, programme and quality
- Ensure RAMS, permits and site documentation are in place and adhered to
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and ensure compliance with CDM requirements
- Provide regular project progress and commercial reports to senior management
- Support project forecasting and cost/value reporting
- Resolve technical, commercial and programme issues proactively
- Ensure projects are delivered to the required quality, programme and profitability targets

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within building services/M&E
- Strong mechanical building services background
- Demonstrable experience delivering commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects
- Experience working on design & build schemes
- Strong understanding of mechanical installation and project delivery
- Experience managing mechanical subcontractors and site teams
- Strong programme and procurement management skills
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, variations and cost control
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills
- Good understanding of UK construction practices, H&S and CDM

- Mechanical qualification such as HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience would be advantageous
- Based within a commutable distance of Milton Keynes or willing to travel to the office/project locations
