Freelance Engineer / Site Manager (Night Shift)
Location: Gloucester
Rate: £400 per day (CIS)
Shift: Monday – Friday | 20:30pm – 06:30am
We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Engineer / Site Manager to join a major retail development project in Gloucester, delivering key Section 278 highways and external infrastructure works. This is a night shift role overseeing critical access and highways improvements within a live environment.
The Project
- Construction of new access points
- Junction improvements and traffic signal installations
- Pedestrian crossings
- Drainage, kerbing and surfacing works
- External infrastructure and associated civils
- Section 278 works linked to a large retail development
The Role
- Lead and supervise night shift operations on site
- Manage subcontractors and coordinate workforce activities
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification
- Oversee temporary traffic management in live highway environments
- Maintain site documentation, QA records, and daily reporting
- Liaise with local authority representatives and stakeholders as required
Requirements
- Strong background in Highways / Infrastructure Civils
- Proven experience delivering Section 278 works
- Experience working in live traffic environments
- Previous night shift management experience (desirable)
- SMSTS (preferred) or SSSTS
- Valid CSCS Card
£400 per day. Immediate start available.
