We are working with a leading global design, workplace and fit-out business seeking an Assistant Pre-Construction Manager to join their London team on an initial 12-month contract, with potential to extend or become permanent.

The role focuses on pre-construction, estimating, tender management and commercial coordination, taking projects from initial brief through to contract award and handover to the delivery team.

The ideal candidate will come from a Pre-Construction, Estimating or Quantity Surveying background, ideally with experience in commercial fit-out, office interiors or retail.

  • Rate: £200 - £220 per day

  • Travel: Occasional UK day travel to client sites, with expenses paid

The Role

You will take ownership of assigned projects throughout the pre-construction and tender stages, working closely with Design, Business Development, Commercial, subcontractors and the delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from initial brief through to formal appointment.
  • Develop scopes of work, tender programmes and submission deadlines.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Produce and manage cost plans, CSAs and Bills of Quantities.
  • Prepare and issue subcontractor and supplier tender packages.
  • Identify and engage suitable subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Analyse and level subcontractor tenders.
  • Manage tender queries, site visits and post-tender negotiations.
  • Provide commercial and specification input during design development.
  • Prepare tender submissions, methodologies, programmes and logistics information.
  • Present costs, risks and commercial information internally and to clients.
  • Support tender presentations and client meetings.
  • Assist with contract documentation and payment schedules.
  • Coordinate the handover from pre-construction to the Build team.
  • Support commercial control and financial reporting once projects move into delivery.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.

  • Commercial Coordinator
  • Project Coordinator with strong commercial experience

Ideally, you will have experience in:

  • Design & Build
  • Commercial fit-out
  • Office interiors
  • Retail fit-out
  • Refurbishment
  • Main contracting

Retail experience is preferred but not essential.
