With offices in London, Manchester and the Southwest, we specialise in Housing, Construction, Facilities Management, Property, Surveying, Health & Safety and Sales. We are currently working with a leading housing association seeking an experienced Surveyor to manage the inspection, repair and maintenance of its garage portfolio across Bristol and the surrounding region.

The Role

As a Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing the condition, maintenance and repair of housing association-owned garages and associated assets. Acting as the client's representative, you will manage contractors, inspect completed works and ensure that repairs and maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. This role offers a varied workload across a geographically dispersed portfolio, with regular site visits to garage locations within approximately one hour's drive of Swindon. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected organisation on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections of garages and associated structures to assess condition, identify defects and specify required repairs.
  • Manage responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance and minor improvement works across the garage portfolio.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring works are completed to agreed standards, timescales and budgets.
  • Undertake post-inspection quality checks and audits of completed works.
  • Investigate reports of defects, damage, anti-social behaviour and health and safety concerns relating to garage sites.
  • Prepare schedules of works, specifications and repair recommendations.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure value for money in the delivery of maintenance services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with tenants, leaseholders, contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve maintenance issues effectively.
  • Maintain accurate property records, inspection reports and management information.
  • Support the delivery of asset management objectives and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Surveyor, Building Surveyor, Property Surveyor, Asset Surveyor or Property Maintenance role.
  • Experience within social housing, residential property, asset management or maintenance environments.
  • Knowledge of building defects, repairs diagnosis and maintenance practices.
  • Experience managing contractors and monitoring work quality.
  • Good understanding of health and safety compliance and risk management.
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and work independently across multiple sites.
  • Proficient in producing inspection reports and technical recommendations.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Hybrid working with a combination of home working and site-based inspections.
