Are you a talented Mechanical Design Engineer looking to join a forward-thinking building services consultancy?

Our client, based in Plymouth, is seeking an experienced and motivated engineer to play a key role in delivering innovative mechanical design solutions across a diverse range of projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on exciting developments across sectors including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and industrial, while developing your career within a supportive and collaborative team.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality mechanical building services designs from concept through to completion.

You'll work closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, sustainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water services, and public health systems.
  • Produce calculations, specifications, reports, and technical drawings.
  • Prepare designs using industry-standard software.
  • Attend design meetings and liaise with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards.
  • Support projects through all RIBA stages from concept to completion.
  • Contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

About You

  • Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment.
  • Proficient in industry-standard design software such as Auto CAD, Revit, and IES or similar.
  • Good understanding of current Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Working towards or already Chartered (desirable but not essential).
