We are a growing Private Equity-backed group with a fast-expanding presence in the renewable energy sector. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a commercially driven Head of Finance / Management Accountant to take ownership of the financial operations of one of our rapidly scaling renewables entities. This is a pivotal role offering autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to help shape the financial future of a high-potential business within the group.

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the Head of Finance / Management Accountant will be responsible for the end-to-end financial management of the renewables business. You will lead on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering while ensuring strong financial controls and supporting strategic decision-making in a PE-backed, growth-oriented environment. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on role, enjoys building robust financial processes, and is motivated by the commercial dynamics of a private equity setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce monthly management accounts, board packs, KPI reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, cashflow management, and working capital reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and liaise with external auditors as required.
  • Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes.
  • Support financial modelling and scenario analysis to inform strategic initiatives and investment decisions.
  • Monitor financial performance against targets and provide insight-driven commentary.
  • Business partner with operational leadership to drive profitability and growth.
  • Support investment appraisals, project analysis, and PE reporting requirements.
  • Drive cost efficiency, margin optimisation, and commercial visibility across the business.
  • Strengthen financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks as the business scales.
  • Support ERP and system improvements to enhance data quality and reporting efficiency.
  • Act as the finance lead for the renewables entity with responsibility for future finance team development.
  • Present financial insights to senior leadership and Private Equity stakeholders.
About You
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or finalist.
  • Experience in a management accounting or financial leadership role.
  • Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting capability.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach suited to a growing business environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
  • Experience within private equity, renewables, energy, infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • Exposure to project-based accounting or capex-heavy environments.
  • Experience improving financial systems and processes in a scaling organisation.
