We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering major refurbishment, fire remediation, and recladding schemes across occupied residential and higher-risk buildings. This role will involve leading design from pre-construction through to delivery, managing consultant teams, driving technical coordination, and ensuring compliance with the latest Building Safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the design process from tender through to project completion
- Coordinating consultants, subcontractors, and client teams
- Leading design meetings and technical reviews
- Managing design programmes and tracking deliverables
- Reviewing drawings and ensuring buildability and compliance
- Supporting commercial and operational teams during delivery
- Ensuring compliance with Building Safety Act and HRB requirements
- Managing design changes, RFIs, and technical queries
Requirements:
- Previous experience working for a Tier 1 contractor
- Strong refurbishment / residential background
- Recladding & fire remediation experience essential
- Knowledge of Building Safety Act / HRBs
- Experience managing design through pre-con and delivery stages
- Relevant construction / technical qualification
