About the Role:

Build Recruitment are looking for an experienced HVAC Engineer to join a Biomedical Unit based in Nottingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving analysis regarding the performance of the environment in a research setting with relation to the mechanical & electrical assets within the facility to ensure the current and future availability, reliability and maintainability of the environment and critical services that underpin and support scientific research.

The Engineer will be a key role, focussing upon ensuring a stable capacity of temperature, humidity, pressure, air changes and other environmental impacts within the strict regulations required for research. The role holder will act as a first point of contact with the Maintenance Services to diagnose through BMS information and mechanical knowledge any out of specification environmental changes and work closely with the maintenance teams to ensure solutions are provided within the set time periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting on requirements under a Home Office Research Licence, informing project management and asset replacement of hardware requirements as appropriate.
  • Working with maintenance teams and applying general engineering knowledge to solve problems and form remediation plans.
  • Performing tests and analysis in conjunction with shift staff and other operational teams to ensure environmental control is maintained.
  • Check new systems or installations.
  • Conduct routine engineering calculations.
  • Monitoring, controlling and working in partnership BMS platform & bureau.
  • Supporting the designation process (M&E information).

Requirements:

  • Environmental controls and BMS engineering experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a technical reliability role or similar, in a research or medical environment.
  • Multi skilled engineering background
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of maintenance processes and tools used to analyse and manage asset reliability.
  • Ability to read, understand and sketch technical drawings (machine and process) and literature to gather or present relevant work order information.
