We are currently recruiting for an experienced

Estimator / Surveyor to join a growing commercial team within a leading organisation operating across the property maintenance, refurbishment and repairs sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to take ownership of the estimating function, attending sites to scope, measure, cost and quote works across small, medium and large refurbishment and repairs projects.

The role will also incorporate a wider quantity surveying function, including valuations, variations, cost reporting, procurement and final accounts.

The Role

You will work closely with Site Managers, operational teams, clients and stakeholders to provide accurate, commercially robust estimates and fully priced scopes of works.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Attending sites across London to scope, survey and measure works.
  • Preparing accurate estimates and quotations using

NHF Schedule of Rates Version 8 , internal SORs and benchmarked London rates.

  • Producing Bills of Quantities, schedules of works, cost plans and pricing documents.
  • Pricing labour, materials, preliminaries, overheads and profit.
  • Preparing clear and accurate client-facing quotations within agreed timescales.
  • Handing fully priced and measured scopes of works to Site Managers for delivery.
  • Supporting tendering, bid analysis and subcontractor procurement.
  • Assessing subcontractor quotations and payment applications.
  • Pricing and valuing variations.
  • Supporting interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Tracking project costs, variations and profitability.
  • Producing commercial reports and highlighting risks and opportunities.
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records, cost trackers and completion cost files. Developing pricing libraries, rate build-ups and benchmarking data.
  • Providing commercial advice to operational teams and stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for an experienced

Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Surveyor, Surveyor or Estimator/Surveyor with a background in property maintenance, repairs, refurbishment or construction.

Ideally, you will have

  • Proven experience estimating and pricing construction, refurbishment, repairs, maintenance or void works.
  • Strong site surveying, measurement and quantity take-off experience.
  • Experience using

NHF Schedule of Rates, SORs or similar pricing systems .

  • Experience preparing BOQs, schedules of works and cost plans.
  • Working knowledge of valuations, variations, cost control and commercial reporting.
  • Strong Excel and estimating/measurement software skills.
  • Excellent commercial judgement and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across London.

Experience within social housing, local authority, housing associations, repairs & maintenance, voids, retrofit, damp & mould, disrepair or refurbishment would be highly advantageous.

Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Commercial Management or Estimating are desirable, although candidates with strong relevant industry experience will also be considered.
