Build Recruitment are working with a major construction and technical organisation who are looking to appoint a Senior MEP Design Manager / Senior Technical Manager to join a newly formed team and take a leading role across major projects throughout the South West.

This is a brand-new opportunity offering genuine influence from the early stages of projects. You won't simply be managing drawings – you'll be shaping technical strategy, challenging designs, identifying risks and helping to deliver practical, coordinated solutions before issues reach site.

You'll work across the full project lifecycle, with a particular focus on pre-construction, design development and technical delivery, across projects valued between £5m and £50m.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the MEP design process from pre-construction through to delivery.

Review and challenge designs to ensure they are practical, coordinated and compliant.

Identify technical risks early and develop effective solutions.

Develop technical strategies and project deliverable plans.

Coordinate consultants, designers, specialists and supply chain partners.

Lead design reviews and ensure actions are followed through.

Drive value engineering while maintaining quality and performance.

Manage consultant scopes, fees and performance.

Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, CDM Regulations and relevant industry standards.

Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

About You

We're looking for an experienced MEP professional who has proven experience leading design on complex construction projects and is confident operating at a senior level.

You'll ideally have:

Strong experience in pre-construction and technical risk management.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strong commercial awareness, including consultant fee management.

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Building Services.

Chartered or Incorporated status, or be working towards this, with CIBSE, IET or IMechE.

Experience working across complex sectors such as healthcare, commercial, leisure, MOD or MOJ would be highly advantageous.
