Senior Contracts Manager – Social Housing Planned Works
Build Recruitment are working with a well-established and growing main contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of social housing planned maintenance and refurbishment programmes across Essex and East London.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work, delivering high-quality refurbishment projects for local authorities and housing associations.
As a Senior Contracts Manager, you will take responsibility for multiple live contracts, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards while leading operational teams and maintaining excellent client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of multiple planned maintenance and refurbishment contracts.
- Manage Contracts Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors and operational teams across several live projects.
- Oversee both direct labour and subcontractor performance to ensure programmes are delivered efficiently.
- Drive commercial performance, programme delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Monitor KPIs and project performance, implementing improvements where required.
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with Health & Safety legislation and company standards.
- Support business growth through operational excellence and continuous improvement.
About You
To be considered for this role, you'll ideally have:
- Significant experience working for recognised main contractors delivering social housing refurbishment and planned maintenance projects.
- A proven track record of successfully delivering planned maintenance contracts for local authorities or housing associations over a number of years.
- Experience managing multiple operational teams, including both direct employees and subcontractors.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent commercial awareness with experience overseeing programme delivery, procurement and supply chain management.
- Strong client-facing skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel and project reporting systems.
- A thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- A stable employment history, demonstrating long-term commitment and progression within previous employers.
- Ideally progressed through operational roles such as Site Manager, Project Manager or Contracts Manager before moving into senior leadership.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
- Ideally based within or close to Essex or East London to support regular site visits.
