We are currently working with a Tier One Property Services Contractor who is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Dartford. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a long-term programme of planned works within the social housing refurbishment sector, with the option to transition into a permanent role after an initial 6-month period or continue on a freelance basis.
The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing the commercial management of planned maintenance and refurbishment works across a portfolio of social housing projects. This is a key role ensuring financial control, contract compliance, and value delivery across multiple schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing all commercial aspects of planned works projects
- Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating subcontractor packages
- Cost planning, forecasting, and reporting
- Valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual obligations
- Liaising closely with operational teams, clients, and stakeholders
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the social housing or property services sector
- Strong background in planned maintenance/refurbishment works
- Experience working for a main contractor (Tier One experience desirable)
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively
