Role Overview
The Tiling Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of commercial tiling projects from pre-start through to completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and safety standards, while managing site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple commercial tiling projects concurrently
- Oversee projects from contract award through to final handover
- Develop and maintain project programmes and schedules
- Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Manage variations, delays, and scope changes
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and margins
- Approve labour, material orders, and subcontractor costs
- Work with estimating and commercial teams on variations and final accounts
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks
- Coordinate site supervisors, tilers, and subcontract labour
- Ensure adequate labour and resources are allocated to each project
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings
- Resolve site issues and maintain productivity
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures
- Ensure works meet industry standards and client expectations
- Address defects and manage snagging works
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, main contractors, and consultants
- Attend site meetings and progress reviews
- Maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within tiling, finishes, or construction
- Strong knowledge of commercial tiling systems, materials, and installation methods
- Experience managing site teams and subcontractors
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Construction-related qualification or trade background in tiling
- SMSTS / SSSTS / First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes
