We are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering major refurbishment, fire remediation, and recladding schemes across occupied residential and higher-risk buildings. This role will involve leading design from pre-construction through to delivery, managing consultant teams, driving technical coordination, and ensuring compliance with the latest Building Safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the design process from tender through to project completion
  • Coordinating consultants, subcontractors, and client teams
  • Leading design meetings and technical reviews
  • Managing design programmes and tracking deliverables
  • Reviewing drawings and ensuring buildability and compliance
  • Supporting commercial and operational teams during delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with Building Safety Act and HRB requirements
  • Managing design changes, RFIs, and technical queries

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working for a Tier 1 contractor
  • Strong refurbishment / residential background
  • Recladding & fire remediation experience essential
  • Knowledge of Building Safety Act / HRBs
  • Experience managing design through pre-con and delivery stages
  • Relevant construction / technical qualification

The role is based out of Hatfield with a mix of office and site attendance across projects.
