We are looking for experienced HIU (Heat Interface Unit) Engineer to join my clients growing team, working across Glasgow and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with a strong background in HIUs and district heating systems to take on a varied and rewarding role within a well-established and forward-thinking business. You will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of HIUs within residential and mixed-use developments, ensuring systems operate efficiently, safely, and in line with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, commissioning, servicing, and repair of Heat Interface Units
  • Fault finding and diagnostics on HIUs, district heating, and communal heating systems
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance works
  • Balancing, testing, and optimisation of heating and hot water systems
  • Completing accurate job reports and service documentation
  • Liaising professionally with clients, site managers, housing associations, and residents
  • Ensuring all works comply with current health & safety regulations
  • Supporting upgrades and system improvements where required

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with HIUs (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of district heating and communal heating systems
  • Background in mechanical, plumbing, or heating engineering
  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience with major HIU manufacturers
  • Previous work within residential developments or housing associations
  • Electrical fault-finding knowledge
  • L8 / water hygiene awareness
