Are you an experienced Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in social housing repairs and maintenance ?

Do you enjoy leading commercial performance, managing contracts from valuation through to final account, and driving profitability within a fast‑paced environment?

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a well-established national contractor delivering responsive repairs and maintenance services across the social housing sector.

This is a key leadership role where you'll play a pivotal part in the commercial success of a high-performing contract.

The Role

Working closely with operational and finance teams, you'll take ownership of the commercial performance of the contract, ensuring robust cost control, accurate valuations, timely invoicing and strong financial reporting.

You'll also lead and develop a local commercial team, helping to drive performance, profitability and commercial awareness across the business.

Key responsibilities include

  • Managing the commercial lifecycle from valuation through to final account.
  • Leading and developing the local commercial team.
  • Driving profitability, cash flow and commercial performance across the contract.
  • Monitoring Work in Progress (WIP), invoicing and financial reporting alongside regional finance teams.
  • Controlling overheads and contract costs including labour, vehicles, plant, subcontractors and materials.
  • Ensuring accurate use of contract management systems and subcontractor portals.
  • Supporting operational teams with commercial advice and guidance.
  • Providing commercial training and mentoring to operational and administrative colleagues.
  • Supporting the commercial mobilisation and tendering of new projects.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders while maintaining exceptional customer service and Health & Safety standards.

What We're Looking For

To be successful, you'll have

  • Previous experience working within social housing repairs and maintenance .
  • Strong knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates (Version 8 preferred) .
  • A proven background in a commercial management or quantity surveying role.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities within a fast‑moving environment.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with operational and finance teams.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring or developing others.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using commercial management systems.
