An established and growing social housing contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of a major MOD contract in the East Anglia / Essex region. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive H&S professional who enjoys being operationally involved, influencing culture on site, and working closely with operational teams to drive continuous improvement across health, safety, and environmental performance. The role will suit someone from a construction, planned maintenance, or building maintenance background who is confident working across occupied properties and live environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental strategy across MOD and social housing works
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with legislation and company procedures
  • Coach, mentor, and support operational teams, supervisors, and subcontractors in promoting a positive safety culture
  • Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively
  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of HSE policies, procedures, and management systems
  • Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions, and behavioural safety initiatives
  • Support compliance with ISO and UKAS accredited management systems
  • Review RAMS and provide practical guidance to operational teams
  • Analyse HSE data, identify trends, and contribute to monthly reporting and improvement plans
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders on all HSE matters

Requirements

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
  • Experience within construction, social housing, planned maintenance, or building maintenance
  • Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Full UK driving licence
  • GradIOSH or working towards CMIOSH desirable
