My client is a leading Main / Principal Interiors Contractor, providing products and services to create high end luxury interior environments in the High End Residential, Leading Hotels and Restaurants throughout the UK. They focus on winning complex and interesting projects covering all aspects of construction, major structural adaptations, cut & carves extensions before refurbishing and fitting out to the very highest of standards.
The Quantity Surveyor Role:
They are looking for an Intermediate Level Quantity Surveyor (3 to 5 years experience) to deliver complex refurbishment and interior fit-out projects. You will join a senior management team made of individuals who have come together with extensive experience in the High End Interiors marketplace.
Roles & Responsibilities Include:
- Liaising directly with design teams and client representatives in preparation of tender.
- Commence all relevant work in relation to receipt of a tender enquiry such as analysing the project, breaking out subcontractor and supplier enquiries, selecting suitable subcontractors and suppliers.
- Undertake site surveys to analyse any potential risks and highlight as appropriate.
- Preparation of pricing documents and the formatting of these documents into the standard layout.
- Cost planning at pre-contract and post-contract stages.
- To maximise the Company’s cash flow through accurate forecasting of payments and receipts, clear communication with clients and supply chain and swift reconciliation of any cash critical issues.
- Ensuring projects are run in a coordinated manner and in accordance with plans by assisting the contracts team.
- Management of subcontracts, main contracts, valuations and CTVs through to final accounts including preparation and placement of subcontract orders which creates a legally binding contract.
- Fair and reasonable assessment of subcontract valuations and final account agreement in a timely manner.
- Submitting valuations and resultant certification in relation to the progress of works and the value of the specific contract.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key consultants to support the overall progress of the project.
- Liaising directly with design teams and client representatives to understand client requirements. Continually seeking opportunities to enhance relationships and service provision to clients, both internal and external.
The Successful Quantity Surveyor:
- In-depth knowledge of the construction process including both new build and fit-out / refurbishment.
- Experience in the majority of the above roles & responsibilities.
- Degree qualified or NVQ, BTEC or Higher National equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years full time experience in a surveying role with a leading reputable main / principal contractor.
- Good understanding of JCT forms of contract & Contract law.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Word and Excel packages.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
