The Company
My client is an East Midlands based independent construction contractor with longstanding customer relationships stretching back over two decades. These projects consist of New Builds and Refurbishments, primarily in the residential and commercial sectors, carried out on a Design & Build basis.
The Quantity Surveyor Role
As a Quantity Surveyor initially you will be working on a variety of projects valued from approximately £3m to £8m, based in the East Midlands, Yorkshire and North West regions. You will be responsible for all the financial aspects of the project, working on the pre-con phase of tenders and then take the project through to site delivery. You will work closely with the MQS and Commercial Manager as well as the client and site team, sometimes autonomously. Your active knowledge sharing, and quick resolution of issues will go a long way in the successful running of this project.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Leading commercially in tender and project meetings
- Preparing and monitoring bid package tender schedules and report against the cost plan where required
- Preparing, submitting and agreeing monthly costs reports and collating information from other Project/Assistant surveyors, as necessary.
- In charge of the risk & cash management
The Successful Quantity Surveyors:
- Experience in the majority of the above roles & responsibilities
- Degree qualified or NVQ, BTEC or Higher National equivalent
- 5 - 10 years full time experience in a surveying role with a leading reputable main / principal contractor
- Good Understanding of JCT forms of contract & Contract law
- Good knowledge and understanding of Word and Excel packages
- Good verbal and written communication skills
