My client is a leading interior specialist subcontractor working alongside blue chip contractors on some of the most prestigious landmark projects in Central London.
The Design Manager Role:
An exciting position working as part of a team managing the day-to-day activities of the design team. The candidate will be required to have a can-do attitude and be proactive in their approach. They will report to the Contracts Director and work closely with the Contracts Managers, Production Manager and sales team. Attention to detail and accuracy of information is required in this role. Use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is essential as well as good verbal and written skills.
The Design Manager Roles & Responsibilities:
- To manage the design team on a day-to-day basis.
- To delegate work to the design team.
- To check drawings (work produced) as required.
- To undertake staff reviews as required.
- To take responsibility with resourcing as required.
- To train other staff members as/if required.
- To actively promote continuous improvement.
- To attend design business meetings as required.
- To attend design meetings both internally and externally with our clients, designers and architects.
- To assist the sales team as required.
- To programme drawing works to the satisfaction of the business and to suit our commitments.
- To notify your line manager of any problems or concerns at the earliest convenience.
- To take care of company property and report any defects.
The Successful Design Manager:
Experience managing a design team is essential. This role will involve the day-to-day management of an existing team of Designers. A good understanding of MF (ceiling) systems would be highly beneficial. A design flair would be a good help, to be able to understand architectural details and origination would be very beneficial. Good knowledge of 2D AutoCAD is essential but also any 3D related software such as SolidWorks or Revit.
