We are currently recruiting for a Design Engineer on behalf of a well-established, globally recognised manufacturing business. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing product development team, supporting the design and development of innovative products from concept through to production. You will play a key role across the full product lifecycle, working on high-quality engineered solutions used in both UK and international markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development
- Produce 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using Solid Edge CAD
- Translate concepts and customer requirements into manufacturable designs
- Contribute to new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Engineering & Technical Documentation
- Create manufacturing drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and assembly instructions
- Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
- Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
- Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams including product development, operations, and production
- Liaise with suppliers on materials, manufacturing processes, and feasibility
- Support product launches with technical input and documentation
- Problem Solving
- Troubleshoot design issues and deliver effective engineering solutions
- Maintain accurate CAD data and documentation
- Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
Requirements
- Strong CAD experience – Solid Edge is essential
- Background in Product Design Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Experience producing 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes (fabrication, machining, plastics, assembly)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Ability to manage workload and adapt to changing priorities
