Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Bricklayer role located in the City of Bristol.
The Bricklayer will lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry units to construct and repair walls, partitions, foundations, and other structural elements.
Daily tasks include interpreting drawings and specifications, setting out work, mixing and applying mortar, cutting and shaping bricks or blocks, and ensuring that structures are level, plumb, and aligned.
The role involves working closely with site supervisors and other trades, following health and safety procedures, maintaining tools and work areas, and meeting agreed project deadlines.
The Bricklayer may also assist with minor repairs, pointing, and finishing work to deliver a neat and durable result.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated bricklaying experience, including laying bricks and blocks, constructing walls and foundations, and carrying out repairs and repointing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, follow site instructions, and set out work accurately using appropriate tools and measurements.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety, including safe use of tools and equipment, manual handling, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Good physical stamina and dexterity, with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform repetitive tasks safely.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a reliable and organized approach to meeting deadlines and maintaining work quality.
- Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in bricklaying or general construction (or equivalent experience) preferred.
