Description
You will have the opportunity to be involved in a very broad range of matters, working across the full spectrum of the business. This will include negotiating commercial agreements and software licenses and working on a broad range of other matters such as IP clearances for our games, data protection, human resources, marketing, facilities and regulatory matters (e.g. relating to the Online Safety Act and the Digital Services Act).
You will establish yourself as a trusted adviser to your stakeholders, fielding questions on some of the most cutting edge and exciting legal questions in the entertainment space.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Build a Rocket Boy’s (BARB) business teams (including Publishing, Development and Brands) and other corporate functions (such as Finance, HR and Facilities) to provide practical and actionable advice.
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, software licenses, third party vendor agreements (such as influencer agreements), confidentiality agreements, consulting agreements and other agreements.
- Advise on various IP-related matters such as music and software licensing, IP clearances, trade mark matters and regulatory matters relating to UGC content.
- Support on key projects such as the development of templates, establishment of training programs for stakeholders.
- Advise on interpretation of legal documents and applicable laws and regulations in a manner that provides practical and timely legal advice on complex issues, while balancing risk to the business.
- Provide support for transactions, including financings and M&A as well as other business development transactions and Corporate matters, as required.
- Manage outside counsel on a broad range of topics including commercial, employment and data protection matters.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Qualified lawyer admitted in England & Wales, Scotland or another relevant jurisdiction.
- At least 2 years post-qualified experience, although candidates outside of this range are encouraged to apply if they have the relevant experience.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated and willing to handle a broad range of tasks for multiple clients and get stuck in with all types of work.
- Some experience working in-house preferred.
- Demonstrable experience in Commercial and IP law preferred.
- Willingness to work outside comfort zone and work in areas that are new to you.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Interest in video games a plus.
