We are a busy 11,000 patient GP practice in Northamptonshire looking for a Receptionist/Administrator for up to 30 hours per week to join our friendly team. Opening hours 8.00am - 6.30pm Monday to Friday. We would be looking for someone who can provide flexible cover during opening times.
Main duties of the job
- This is a fast-paced and varied role that requires excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- You will manage a range of administrative and patient-facing tasks, ensuring the smooth running of our daily clinics.
- Greeting patients and visitors both in person and over the telephone.
- Booking, cancelling, and rescheduling appointments via the SystmOne clinical system.
- Processing repeat prescription requests and handling diverse patient enquiries.
- Managing incoming and outgoing post, clinical coding tasks, and scanning documentation.
- Assisting with ad-hoc administrative tasks as needed.
- Liaising with GPs, nurses, and external healthcare providers (e.g., secondary care and pharmacies).
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and data protection (GDPR) at all times.

Job responsibilities

- Your responsibilities will include welcoming patients, managing appointment scheduling, handling incoming calls, and supporting the administrative team with various clerical tasks.

Experience
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a compassionate and professional telephone manner.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads, and work effectively within a team environment.
- Experience working in a GP practice or healthcare setting.
- Use of a clinical system (SystmOne) or similar records management system.
- Candidates who demonstrate strong IT proficiency and experience in a GP setting will be prioritised.
- While we offer up to 30 hours per week, flexibility to cover holiday or sickness within the team is an advantage.
