Summary / Objective
Buffalo Rock is an award‑winning Pepsi and Keurig Dr. Pepper bottler founded in Birmingham, AL more than 123 years ago. Buffalo Rock manages the best beverage portfolio in the country, which includes several beloved global and regional brands. The Sanitation Technician is responsible for following the Master Cleaning Schedule and executing the cleaning of equipment and facilities in compliance with cleaning standards. The Sanitation Technician will work closely with other team members to uphold the cleanliness of equipment and facilities to support the Vertique System’s overall efficiency and operational readiness at the Central Hub Distribution Center.

- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Position is required to work all the hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nights, weekends, holidays.
- Keep work areas up to housekeeping and GMP standards, including inside/outside Central Hub Distribution Center areas.
- Ensure all areas of the Vertique System are clean and free of debris, including the dock doors.
- Complete daily Warehouse Master Cleaning Schedule as assigned by Sanitation Lead, for the Vertique System including but not limited to cleaning the palletizers, merge diverters, towers, wrappers, pallet chain, saw lanes, hand stacks, dog houses and docks doors to ensure minimal disruption of the process. Report to the Sanitation Lead when assigned tasks are completed for inspection.
- Ensure that all products have been removed from areas before using any water hoses to perform cleaning.
- Perform routine maintenance on cleaning equipment and tools to ensure proper functionality and safety. Report any malfunctions or issues to the Sanitation Lead for prompt resolution.
- Operate power washer equipment for washing different work areas.
- Bale the cardboard and plastic waste using compactors.
- Sweep and mop all assigned areas within the Hub in a timely fashion.
- Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals and solutions in accordance with manufacturer instructions and safety protocols. Maintain proper storage and labeling of chemicals to prevent accidents or contamination.
- Collect, segregate, and dispose of waste materials generated during cleaning activities. Monitor waste receptacles and ensure timely removal and disposal.
- Periodically wash trash cans, blue recycle bins, and roll dumpsters.
- Knows the Emergency Motor Overrides (EMO) locations and how to use/reset as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the sanitation team and operations within the Central Hub Distribution Center to achieve common goals and objectives.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to coordinate tasks and share relevant information.
- Run and operate Scrubbers daily to keep all assigned areas clean.
Use proper lifting techniques to avoid injuries and follow the BRC safety practices.
Must keep all sanitation supplies in their proper place and notify Sanitation Shift Lead when running low. Only use allowed/approved cleaners.
Adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions.
- Make sound decisions and multitask simultaneously without constant supervision.
Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Requires participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
