Job Description

Summary/objective

Buffalo Rock Company, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, is the nation’s largest single-family, privately-owned Pepsi andKeurig DrPepper bottler. With a legacy spanning more than 124 years, Buffalo Rock manages the best beverage portfolio in the country, featuring both global and regional favorites. The Corporate Communications Manager is a vital member of the Customer Strategy, Marketing & Brand Development team. This role is responsible for crafting and executing internal and external communication strategies that reflect and amplify Buffalo Rock’s purpose, values, and strategic goals.

This individual will lead the development of communications plans, craft messaging for company announcements, manage brand voice across channels, and ensure clear, consistent storytelling across all audiences. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and has experience delivering impactful communication during times of change, growth, and innovation.

Essential functions

  • Work collaboratively with executive and senior management across corporate departments and franchises to identify, define and plan end-to-end internal and external communication plans.
  • Develop strategic plans to support the success of key initiatives and programs, while managing the tactical execution of communications across the company’s internal and external channels (intranet, announcements, website, press releases, media responses, video, communication boards, speeches, presentations, etc.)
  • Provide leadership and management support to the Corporate Communications Coordinator.
  • Produce, review, and edit all communications—written, verbal, and visual.
  • Oversee strategy and content for Buffalo Rock’s social media platforms; manage online reputation and response to public inquiries.
  • Manage and maintain Buffalo Rock’s “voice” and branding by upholding the brand guidelines and purpose and core values. Provide creative direction to agency partners to produce campaigns that reflect our company and brand voice.
  • Support the preparation of materials for officers and other executive meetings in conjunction with other business leaders.
  • Provide as-needed communications counsel and support to cross-functional workstreams that aim to enhance Buffalo Rock’s culture.
  • Maintain a suite of self-service tools and resources to support functional leaders in effectively communicating people and organizational changes.
  • Maintain all internal communications channels and routines that house communications and company branding, ensuring channels and materials are always up to date.
  • Provide weekly project reports/summaries of internal communications and public relations projects.
  • Stay informed of key issues and trends impacting the company and industry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required education and experience

  • Education:
    • Bachelor\’s Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Business Administration, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, or Event Planning; Required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of five years of corporate communications or public relations experience including day-to-day relationships with executives.; Required
  • Certifications & Licenses:
    • Valid driver license with a good driving record; Required
  • Computer Skills:
    • Advanced experience in/ application of Microsoft Office 365 products is required including, but not limited to: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Access, etc.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc.).
    • Experience working in WordPress is a plus.
  • Other Required Skills:
    • Knowledge of AP style.
    • Experience managing agencies or working within an agency.
