The Receiving Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the inbound activities of all the replenishment and outside vendors products at the Distribution Center, ensuring accuracy and efficient offloading process. The Shift Lead will ensure the daily inbound schedule is complete and work in conjunction with the transportation team driving our customers' success. The Receiving Shift Lead will also be responsible for coordinating the operations for Dunnage, recycling and vendor returns.
Essential Functions
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Position is required to work all the hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nights, weekends, holidays. May be required to work varying shifts and/or overtime if needed to meet customer demand.
- Lead the receiving team Employee-Partners.
- Provide guidance, direction, and support during the execution of the receiving process, including but not limited to, product moves, trailers/equipment/products inspection, accuracy, and troubleshooting.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor performance to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the operations.
- Train new and current EPs in each position according to the established standard operational procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, VIP system and YardView. Ensure that all the team members are up to date with the assigned training program.
- Lead and coordinate receiving activities during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to receiving schedules and efficiency standards.
- Ensure accuracy in receiving processes.
- Verify product descriptions, general conditions, close date, quantities, and documentation to prevent inventory errors and discrepancies.
- Assist in inventory control by overseeing the accurate receiving of products and vendor returns, according to established standard operational procedures.
- Update the Dunnage spreadsheet trackers and vendors returns.
- Prepare and submit reports on daily operations with detailed information on the results (receiving schedules, on time delayed carriers, pending orders, and total cases received), and any incidents or issues encountered during the shift.
- Proactively work with Penske to manage the daily dispatch of inbound loads.
- Manage the trailer availability using YardView.
- Deliver the loads documentation to Penske or outside carriers.
- Must be hands-on with the team completing daily activities including and not limited to offloading, loading, inspections, product identification, product moves, dunnage sort/organization, vendors return, among others.
- Coordinate with Shift Lead partners to address operations, resources, and needs to meet the daily goals with efficiency and accuracy.
- Coordinate with Advertising and Supply Chain, when receiving cross dock/advertising materials into warehouse.
- Proactively identify opportunities to optimize receiving processes, streamline workflows, and enhance efficiency.
- Proactively communicate to the management team any findings or trailer issues that may compromise the completion of the receiving schedule.
- Ensure all forklift operators complete Infolink pre-trip inspections and leave the forklift properly charging at the end of the shift.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety guidelines. Conduct safety huddles with the team, identify and mitigate potential safety hazards, and enforce safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure the compliance of the cleaning process, GMPs, and housekeeping standards to maintain cleanliness throughout the Receiving operational areas.
- Adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions.
- Make sound decisions and multitask simultaneously without constant supervision.
- Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Requires participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
- Perform any other duties and shifts assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead assigned hourly warehouse EPs and carries out leads responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; aid supervisor addressing and resolving problems.
Working environment
- Working conditions will require both inside warehouse needs and outside. Temperature conditions will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold.
Physical Demands
- All tasks within the warehouse are physically demanding and labor-intensive. Employees within this role are required to:
- Move and stack pallets weighing up to 65 pounds throughout shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend down, reach and climb up and down stairs throughout shift.
- Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and warm environment, especially during summer months.
- Sense of Sound - Hearing is required for the total workday.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – high visibility shirt or safety vest, slip resistant shoes, mask, eye protection, between others.
- Position requires physical presence at the Central Hub.

- Ability to bend under machinery and conveyors to clean, sweep, and mop.
