The Forklift Operator (Receiving) will be responsible for ensuring accurate receipt and shipment of products and dunnage and moving them to the appropriate locations in a timely and safe manner. The Operator will ensure the efficient flow of products within the Central Hub Distribution Center and will be able to cross‑train and perform any job functions of other Forklift Operators’ positions.

Essential Functions

  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Operate different types of forklifts including both stand‑up and sit‑down, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of products.
  • Must perform pre‑trip inspection on all power equipment used through InfoLink system.
  • Follow all driving rules and procedures and always be aware of the surroundings.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, accidents, and/or incidents to a member of the management team.
  • Offload products from outside vendors and replenishment loads, inspecting general conditions and quantity with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Verify inbound products match BOL, quantities, expiration date, and that the product has at least 3 months or more before expiration date.
  • Move products to backstock and picking locations, following the Central Hub Receiving best practices.
  • Rotate stock, following Location Base Inventory (LBI) process to ensure proper product rotation according to FEFO method.
  • Allocate products into the Warehouse Management System utilizing electronic devices (tablets, cell phones and RF Scanners) to process the receiving/moving transactions.
  • Must properly handle packaged product, preventing any damage to the product.
  • Load/offload, sort, organize, and stock dunnage with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Clear the returns and staging areas and move products to the respective locations.
  • Collect and move damages to the designated recycling areas.
  • Communicate any abnormal or damaged conditions regarding equipment, trailers, and/or products with Receiving Lead/Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Identify needs and assist other areas when appropriate.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  • In the case of any product spill, mop as needed to keep the floors clean and dry.
  • Use proper lifting techniques to avoid injuries and follow the BRC safety practices.
  • Make sound decisions and multitask simultaneously without constant supervision.
  • Adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions.
  • Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110.
  • Requires participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes.
  • Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

  • Lift product up to 30 pounds on a repetitive basis per shift and up to 50 pounds intermittently throughout shift.
  • Move and stack pallets weighing up to 65 pounds throughout shift.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and warm environment, especially during summer months.
  • Hearing is required for the total workday.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – high visibility shirt or safety vest, slip resistant shoes and safety glasses.

Required Education And Experience

  • Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
  • Experience: Must have at least one (1) year of experience in warehouse environment: Required
  • Must have at least one (1) year of experience operating a forklift: Required
  • Prior experience utilizing RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems: Preferred
