As a respected, accredited and established provider within the sector, we are committed to delivering outstanding care, creating positive opportunities and achieving exceptional outcomes for children and young people.We are seeking a passionate and motivated Registered Manager to lead and develop our two-bed children's residential home in the Southampton area.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager looking to take the next step into registration, or an established Registered Manager seeking a fresh challenge within a supportive and growing organisation.The RoleAs the Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management and day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring children and young people receive high-quality care that promotes positive outcomes, stability and personal growth.You will ensure the home operates in accordance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards, maintains regulatory compliance and strives to deliver the highest standards of care in line with Budwood policies and procedures.Reporting to the Area Manager, you will work closely with the wider management team and professional support services to ensure the home operates effectively and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include leadership and development of the staff team, safeguarding, care planning, quality assurance and maintaining positive relationships with local authorities and other key stakeholders.You will be supported by a network of experienced professionals across Clinical Services, Education, Quality Assurance, Human Resources and Learning and Development, alongside dedicated Area Manager support, ensuring you have everything needed to succeed and deliver the very best outcomes for the children and young people in your care.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesBe responsible for the leadership, management, development and operation of a high-quality two-bed children's residential home, ensuring positive outcomes for young peoplePromote partnership working with young people, their families, colleagues and external agencies to ensure individual needs are effectively metProvide effective leadership by implementing organisational strategies and objectives, contributing to the continued success and growth of BudwoodPromote team development, engagement and effective team working within the homeMaximise the effectiveness of staff through motivation, development, coaching and the application of Budwood personnel policies and proceduresLead on setting standards, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement within the serviceContribute to the development of corporate policies, service initiatives and best practice aimed at enhancing the quality of care provided by BudwoodSet, monitor and review targets and objectives for the staff team, ensuring clear direction and accountabilityProvide operational management of the home and deploy staffing resources effectively to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of services, including participation in an out-of-hours on-call rotaHold line management responsibility for the staff team, ensuring all employees receive appropriate induction, supervision, performance reviews and supportEnsure effective communication systems are in place and that key information is shared appropriately and efficientlyOversee referrals, admissions and transitions, ensuring placements are suitable and that young people's assessed needs can be effectively metEnsure continuity of care and support for young people, minimising risks and promoting stability, resilience and positive behavioural outcomesEnsure compliance with all Budwood policies and procedures, the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality StandardsActively participate in recruitment, retention and staffing matters, including grievance, disciplinary and health and safety processes, with support from the Area Manager and HR teamIdentify staff training and development needs and ensure these are met through training, coaching and mentoring opportunitiesEnsure compliance with all health and safety legislation, regulations and organisational policiesRegularly inspect and monitor the home, ensuring that the property, equipment, furnishings and grounds are safe, secure, well maintained and fit for purposeManage budgets, financial controls, administration and record-keeping in line with organisational expectations and proceduresPromote and implement the organisation's equality, diversity and inclusion policies and practicesEnsure that all staff understand and consistently implement safeguarding and child protection proceduresBuild and maintain effective working relationships with Ofsted, local authorities, external professionals and other stakeholdersEnsure the home maintains regulatory compliance and consistently strives towards achieving and sustaining Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomesAct as the Registered Manager and fulfil all responsibilities associated with the roleUndertake any other duties reasonably required by the Responsible Individual or senior management teamEssential CriteriaLevel 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to achieve this within three years of starting to manage the homeAt least two years' relevant residential childcare experience within the previous five yearsAt least one year's experience in a role involving the supervision and management of care staffStrong knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and safeguarding legislationProven ability to lead, motivate and develop staff teamsExperience of managing budgets, rotas, staffing and regulatory complianceFull UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposesAbility to participate in the out-of-hours on-call rotaBudwood is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates.Budwood is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
