Overview:
We are looking for passionate Residential Support Workers to join one of our homes in Poole on a casual basis, covering shifts within the business as and when needed. This opportunity offers flexibility to work the hours you can commit to with no contractual obligation. You will be part of a team that provides flexible and individual care packages towards all our children and young adults. Working for Budwood, you will be joining a supportive and collaborative team which recognises you as an individual. All staff are trained in Developmental Trauma and therapeutic parenting to best aid your understanding and ability to provide young people with the best support possible. Experience of working with children and young people as well as understanding the issues that face young people in care is valuable.
Responsibilities:
- Flexibility in your availability as you will be required to cover sicknesses, annual leave, and a range of hours/shifts and to cover sleep in shifts as and when necessary.
- Promoting, safeguarding and protecting the welfare of our young people
- Establishing and maintaining positive and trusting relationships with our young people
- To work well as part of a team and must be able to accept direction and guidance
- Encouraging the development of the individual interests of our young people
Qualifications and requirements:
- Hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent - or be willing to work towards a required qualification and upgrade to a Level 4 diploma. (Not essential, but desirable)
- Have a full UK driving licence and car as this role will involve travelling.
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Be willing to learn
- Be able to work well as part of a small team
- Be willing to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level if successful for the position. Your DBS check shall be paid for by ourselves
- Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work or Youth Work would be advantageous.
About Budwood:
Budwood, a part of Polaris Community, are a local business providing Residential Care and Support to children and young adults with emotional behavioural difficulties as well as social and emotional mental health. Our young people here may have experienced adverse childhood experiences and so the aim of the service is to provide them with a stable comfortable home. As such, they will receive high levels of support and guidance to keep them safe as well as guidance to enable them to learn new skills to help with a successful transition to independence and adulthood.
